BELOW KNEE - EXOSKELETAL

Exoskeletal prostheses have a hard outer plastic laminated shell with a wood or urethane foam interior. In the exoskeletal prosthesis, the strength is provided by the outer lamination, and the shape of the cosmetic cover is an important part of the prosthesis.

BELOW KNEE - ENDOSKELETAL

Endoskeletal prostheses feature an inner support pylon composed of lighter-weight materials like aluminum, titanium, and graphite. The shape or cosmesis is derived from a removable soft, foam cover that is finished with a nylon hose or other flexible material.

HIP DISARTICULATION PROSTHESIS

Hip Disarticulation (HD) amputations are surgical procedures in which the lower limb is removed through the hip joint itself. A Hip Disarticulation Prosthesis consists of a rigid or semi-rigid socket attached to a mobile hip joint, a mobile knee joint, and an ankle/foot unit with appropriate connectors in between the joints.

Rotationplasty Prosthesis

ROTATIONPLASTY

Rotationplasty is a type of autograft wherein a portion of a limb is removed, while the remaining limb below the involved portion is rotated and reattached. This procedure is used when a portion of an extremity is injured or involved with a disease, such as cancer.

Typically, the ankle joint becomes the knee joint. The limb is rotated because the ankle flexes in the opposite direction compared to the knee. The benefit to the patient is that they have a functioning knee joint and can run and jump.

The operation is also called a Van Nes rotation.

Syme and Chopart

SYME / CHOPART PROSTHESIS

A Chopart Prosthesis is a prosthetic device used for an amputation at the forefoot/midfoot level. A Syme Prosthesis is a prosthetic device used for an ankle disarticulation amputation or basically through the ankle amputation

Leg Length Discrepancies

LEG LENGTH DISCREPANCIES

Prosthetic device for Unequal leg length or leg length inequality (LLI), refers to a medical condition where the legs are of different sizes and/or length.

Partial Foot

PARTIAL FOOT PROSTHESIS

A partial foot prosthesis replaces the amputated part of a foot. It can be worn when the ankle joint is fully retained following an amputation. Partial foot prostheses make natural gait pattern possible being able to wear standard shoes again and enjoy everyday life like before.
